The Clan McGrath Society / Cumann Chlann Mhic Craith was formed in 2024. The new society brings together key functions, resources and expertise of the historic and independent McGrath Septs of Thomond and Ulster under one organisation to better coordinate activities including the organising of bi-annual gatherings.
The society seeks to include international Clan McGrath organisations and individuals from around the world. The society will be fully constituted, elect or appoint a Taoiseach / Chief who will also act as chair of a new clan council. The first nominations for council and election or appointment of Taoiseach will take place at the 2024 clan gathering.

The McGrath septs of Thomond and Ulster will remain independently registered clans of Clans of Ireland – Finte na hÉireann, an independent permanent authority est. 1989 to register Irish clans and historic families.

Irish clans were territorial and often remained on the same lands for centuries, the continued registration of Thomond and Ulster as independent clans of Clans of Ireland recognises and respects these historic differences.
The new Clan McGrath Society recognises the diversity of our clan and the variation of the names within it. The society recognises our strength will come in moving the interests of the Clan McGrath forward collectively, under one banner. The Clan McGrath Society / Cumann Chlann Mhic Craith is therefore an umbrella organisation under which McGraths everywhere can shelter.
